Winter Weather

The month of January has definitely been a cold one! We want to remind everyone to please send students to school with coats, hats, gloves, etc. so they stay nice and warm as they make their way into or out of the school. If the windchill is above freezing (32) and conditions are fair, we will go outside for recess. Unfortunately, we have not had many opportunities this month to do so. We know warmer weather will make its way to us eventually. Until then, please bundle up, STARS!

BES Teacher of the Year Finalists

We would like to congratulate our 3 Teacher of the Year finalists:
  • Mrs. Jessica Martin
  • Mrs. Lindsey Roberts
  • Mrs. Jenny Landers
Each of these teachers were nominated by their peers for their excellence in the classroom, their leadership within our school, and their positivity. We wish them the best as they move forward in the Teacher of the Year selection process. Congratulations, ladies!

We will announce our 2026-2027 Teacher of the Year on Tuesday, February 3. Stay tuned!

National School Counselors Week

Please help us recognize our fabulous school counselors during National School Counselors Week February 2-6. We appreciate all that Ms. Bryant and Ms. Collier do to support our students, staff, and families.

Word of the Month: Honesty

This month, you can review Honesty as a family! Honesty is being truthful in what you say and do. Discuss the importance of being Honest
and work together to create a family
Honesty pledge. Create and decorate a
sign together that explains what Honesty
means in your family. Have each family
member sign the pledge and choose a
spot to display it. Refer back to the pledge
as a reminder to be Honest and to
celebrate when Honesty is practiced!
The word HONESTY is displayed in large, textured letters above a definition.

Lit Love Read

During the month of February, our school will join educators, families, and students across the state of Georgia to ignite a love of reading through Lit Love READ! Lit Love READ is a statewide literacy initiative sponsored by Let’s Read, Georgia! in partnership with Northeast Georgia RESA. The campaign begins on Wednesday, February 4, in recognition of World Read Aloud Day, and concludes at the end of Read Across America Week on Friday, March 6.
As part of this initiative, students and families are encouraged to participate in a Picture Book Scavenger Hunt. This interactive activity invites students to explore picture books in a fun and engaging way while sharpening observation skills, deepening comprehension, and sparking excitement for storytelling.
Families are also encouraged to create a free account on the Let’s Read, Georgia! website to log books read during the campaign.
  • Each book logged equals one ticket
  • Prizes will be awarded by randomly selecting winners during a public livestream wheel spin
  • The more you read, the more tickets you earn!
To create an account and participate, please visit: https://lrg.georgiaresa.org/campaign/signup
Thank you for partnering with us to help foster a love of reading at home and at school!
